A Winter Walk on the Capser Trail

The Ice Road is open and the sun is out!
What a great day for a walk on the Capser Trail.

We've had a mild winter so far. The bay was still completely open on Christmas Eve, the ferry was still running on January 5th. Once the ice got thick enough to sideline the Windsled, there were concerns about a crack in the ice on the Bayfield side. But yesterday January 31 was a good day to drive the ice road for a visit to Madeline Island!

We haven't had a lot of snow this season, but it is evident there is enough for the Capser Trail to be a favorite spot for cross-country skiing or a winter hike.
